Citing procedural lacunae, the Uttar Pradesh IAS Association has urged the Yogi Adityanath government to withdraw the suspension of Fatehpur and Gonda district magistrates.

The state had on Thursday suspended district magistrates of Gonda and Fatehpur, J B Singh and Kumar Prashant for ‘laxity’ and ‘failure’ to check black marketing and irregularities in distribution of food grains and purchase of wheat.

A delegation of the UP IAS Association met state chief secretary Rajive Kumar on Friday and urged him to convey to the chief minister about the procedural lacunae in ordering the suspension.

“Yes, the association has demanded that the suspension of two district magistrates be withdrawn as the state government did not follow the due process,” said UP IAS Association secretary Alok Kumar after meeting the chief secretary, but did not divulge further details.

Replying to a question about governor Ram Naik’s letter to chief minister on the alleged bribe demand by a principal secretary, Alok Kumar said the association did not take up the issue with the chief secretary.
