Police are appealing for sightings of 23-year-old John Witherden reported missing in Wainuiomata on Friday night.

An autistic man reported missing on Friday night has been found

John Witherden​, 23, disappeared from his home in Hinau Gr, Wainuiomata on Friday night sometime between 10.30pm and midnight.

A search and rescue base was set up at the Lower Hutt police station and rescuers worked alongside police to locate Witherden.

Police thanked all those who shared information about the missing man on social media, and provided potential sightings.
