Blackbuck killed in Nagaur village

AJMER: An incident of poaching a blackbuck was reported in Jharod village of Nagaur on Saturday morning. The poachers managed to escape. Nagaur police registered a case and also informed the forest department who were trying to identify the accused.

According to sources, villagers in Jharod heard a gunshot. They rushed towards the village outskirts and found some people surrounding a blackbuck carcass. They tried to nab the poachers who fled in a vehicle.

Police was informed who seized the blackbuck carcass. Police confirmed that there was a bullet hole in the blackbuck’s body.

Villagers gathered at the spot and demanded the arrest of poachers.

Recently on March 18 this year, villagers of Kiranu of Khemsar block of Nagaur had also found a dead deer outside the village. It was revealed the deer had been shot with a gun.

Jharod has a good number of Bishnoi families along with Jats. They worship blackbucks and don’t allow their killing.
