K. Keerthana had secured all India rank 12 in NEET

K. Keerthana of Chennai has secured the fifth place in the MBBS entrance test of the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer), the results of which were announced on Friday.

“I have always been keen on studying at Jipmer, and am extremely happy with the results,” said Ms. Keerthana, a student of Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan, K.K. Nagar, Chennai. She had secured the all India 12th rank in the NEET, results for which were announced last week. Stating that the Jipmer entrance was a lot more challenging than other medical entrance exams, Ms. Keerthana said the questions and concepts tested would not necessarily be asked from their textbooks alone which had meant that subjects such as biology needed additional attention and preparation.

There are around 200 seats available for medical aspirants in various categories at the Jipmer in Puducherry and Karaikal. Around 1.97 lakh candidates had registered for the entrance test, which was held on June 3. The exam was held in 291 exam centres spread across 130 cities in the country.

Counselling is expected to begin in the last week of June.
