Ujjain: Women complain about lack of safe water in village, get beaten up


Ujjain: Women and a few villagers were thrashed by miscreants on Thursday night. According to reports, a few women of Lekoda village reached sarpanch’s house to complain about non-availability of drinking water in the village. However, the sarpanch asked them to visit police station.

In their statement to police, the women claimed that a few miscreants attacked their vehicle on way to the police station and brutally assaulted them along with a few accompanying villagers. According to police, Ramesh Bagari, Pepabai, Shyamubai, Dhapubai, Vikram, Manak of Lekoda village and other villagers were beaten by Dinesh, Sanju, Manohar, Rakesh and Devkaran by sticks and rods.

During the incident, Manak, Pepabai, Shyamubai, Vikram and Dhapubai received serious injuries and were rushed to government hospital. The injured identified the assailants as they hailed from the same village. The police registered an FIR against the miscreants on the basis of the statement of injured persons.
