RAJKOT: Another complaint of threat and physical assault has been lodged against the accused who had allegedly threatened Congress leader Arjun Modhwadia’s cousin to vacate his house in Rajkot.

Accused Mandan Mer was arrested on Thursday after he allegedly threatened to kill Dr Jayesh Modhwadia at his clinic with his licensed revolver.

Dr Modhwadia’s neighbour Shyam Mathur (80), who has lodged the complaint against Mer, alleged in his complaint that Mer had also threatened him and even attacked him with a brick, one-and-a-half year ago.

Mathur alleged that Mer had hit him with a brick,, injuring him on his head and shoulder after he had turned down his offer to sell his flat. Mathur said he, Dr Modhwadia and other residents of Shivdhara Apartments on Kalawad Road, where Mer also lives, wanted to sell off their flats and shift to other apartments.

“Mer wanted to act as a real estate broker and quoted the amount which was unacceptable to Mathur, Dr Modhwadia and other residents of Shivdhara Apartment. This led to an altercation between Mer and Mathur, following which Mer picked up a brick and attacked Mathur. Mathur has also alleged that Mer has been threatening other residents of the apartments to sell off their flats at cheaper rates and used his licensed revolver to threaten them,” an official from A division police station said.

In his complaint, Dr Modhwadia alleged that Mer had come to his clinic and threatened to kill him, brandishing a revolver. Dr Modhwadia wanted to sell off his flat for which he had a talk with Mer to get him a good dealing. However, the price quoted by Mer was not acceptable to Dr Modhwadia.

“This resulted in a dispute between the duo, following which Mer threatened him and asked him to vacate his flat. We have arrested Mer for the crime,” the official added.
