Tourists to pay more for ferry service after diesel price hike

Tourists visiting the famous statue and Vivekananda Rock here will now have to shell out more for the ferry service following a steep hike in diesel price.

The ordinary fare has been increased from Rs 34 to Rs 50 and the special fare from Rs 169 to Rs 200 in view of the increase in price of the fuel, an official release said.

The statue is a 133-foot tall stone sculpture of Tamil and philosopher Tiruvalluvar, of the treatise 'Tirukkural' and is located about 400 metres off coast.
