Several tribal and journalist associations have threatened to undertake protest programmes if the authorities fail to finalise timeline for establishing tribal university in North Andhra.

Stating that this was one of the promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, the representatives at a roundtable organised by AP Girijana Samakhya, Uttarandhra Journalist Front and AP Girijan Reporters’ Association here on Saturday said the government should specify the schedule for starting the university and admissions at the earliest.

The meeting sought a super-speciality hospital with a medical college and tribal research centre. It also sought separate Integrated Tribal Agency for Chintapalle and formation of separate revenue division.

The meeting chaired by UJF president M.R.N. Varma resolved to hold regional sadassus at Paderu on June 24, Parvathipuram on July 1 and Seethammapeta on July 1 and organise ‘jataras’ in 24 tribal mandals of North Andhra in August.
