ADILABAD: The State government’s continuous delay in resolving the issue between Adivasis and Lambadas in erstwhile Adilabad district has put some of the MLAs in a fix  since the last year.
Take for instance the case of Boath and Khanapur MLAs, both Lambadas, and now facing caste certificate issue. The duo had reportedly migrated from neighbouring states and claimed ST certificates. Following this, Adivasis leaders filed a case in the court.

As per the 2011 census of the district, the Adivasis population is around 3.90 lakh while the Lambada population is around 1.20 lakh. The Adivasis are dominating the political scenario and playing an important role in some Assembly constituencies out of the 10 Assembly constituencies. They also have one MP seat in erstwhile Adilabad district. Constituencies including Boath and Asifabad have been dominated by Adivasis for decades now and now they are focusing on Khanapur constituency which is dominated by the Lambadas.

If sources are to be believed, in a survey conducted regarding TRS’s MLAs it was found that 39 of them along Adilabad district MLAs were at a risk of losing the elections due to these due to the Adivasi-Lambada issue.
