BIHARSHARIF: Amid student unrest over alleged discrepancies in Class XII results,
Bihar School Examination Board (
BSEB) chairman Anand Kishor on Saturday said the board had no role in it. Certain students got more marks than the total due to a new evaluation system, he added.
The BSEB clarified these instances were related only to those candidates who took re-examination this year to improve their aggregate. Rules provide if the marks obtained last year are higher than those this year, the marks of last year would be awarded to the candidates. Besides, following change in the pattern of questions, the aggregate marks for subjective papers fell down this year. This explains why the marks obtained last year were higher than the marks this year.
Kishor said marks for the subjects they did not write could be attributed to wrong entries in columns of examination forms.
Meanwhile, hundreds of students blocked NH-31 near Chandi Mor at Harnaut, near Sohsarai and several other places across
Nalanda district on Saturday. They alleged large-scale bungling by the BSEB officials as the reasons behind poor results.
