Dispute over bus seat ends in murder

CHANDIGARH: An altercation over sharing of a seat in a Haryana Roadways bus ended in the murder of the 24-year-old son of a Delhi Police assistant sub-inspector. Victim Milan Kumar, son of ASI Anand Kumar, was shot at by one Ankit and his associate at his house in Mokhra village of Rohtak on late Thursday night.

With four bullet injuries, profusely-bleeding Milan was rushed to Post Graduate Institite of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, where he was declared brought dead. His body was sent for postmortem examination. Sub-inspector Manjeet Singh, investigation officer (IO) in the case, said the body would be handed over to family after autopsy.

“A case of murder has been registered against Ankit and an unidentified person,” Manjeet told media. According to information, Milan, a graduate who was taking coaching classes for police recruitment in New Delhi, had an altercation with Ankit over the sharing of seat in a roadways bus on June 6.

According to information, both again got into a brawl at the village bus stand on Thursday and Milan moved a police complaint and got himself medically examined.

Later, Ankit and another person knocked at Milan’s door in the night. Milan’s brother Ravi came out to answer and both talked about striking a compromise. However, as soon as Milan arrived Ankit and his aide started firing at him.

Milan sustained bullet injuries on his chest, stomach, waist and back. His brother ran for cover and Milan fell on the ground. Ravi cried for help. Before villagers could gather, Ankit and his aide managed to escape.
