Heavy rainfall lashes Mumbai as IMD declares onset of monsoon

MUMBAI: Several parts of Mumbai witnessed heavy rainfall leading to waterlogging in some areas.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), on Saturday, declared the onset of monsoon over Mumbai, Thane and some parts of Maharashtra.
"Heavy to very heavy rainfall was recorded in the suburbs till 8.30 am today," IMD Deputy Director K S Hosalikar said.
The IMD had forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over a period of 24 hours in some parts of Mumbai.
Central railway suburban trains are running with a delay of 10-12 minutes and no trains have been cancelled, the CPRO said, according to ANI.
"There was a case of wall debris falling on tracks this morning on Down slow line. The debris were removed immediately and for some time, trains on Down slow line were diverted to the fast line," Sunil Udasi, Chief PRO of CR, said.
