Maharashtra SSC results: girls outscore boys, pass percentage up

Pune: Girls outscored boys yet again in the Maharashtra Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or Class X exams, results for which were announced by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) on Friday.

The pass percentage for girls was an impressive 91.7% as against 87.27% for boys.

The cumulative pass percentage was 89.41%, higher than last year’s 88. 47%.

As many as 17, 51, 353 students appeared for the three-week long exam process this year, which commenced on March 1 and ended on March 24. It was conducted across nine divisions and 4,657 centres in the State.

The total number of students who appeared for the exams this year is lower than that of last year’s 17.66 lakh, but higher than 2016’s 17.27 lakh students.

While Konkan division recorded a pass percentage of 96%, the highest among the nine divisions, Nagpur registered the lowest pass percentage of 85.97%.

The two most populous divisions, Mumbai and Pune, recorded robust pass percentages of 90.41% and 92.08% respectively.

This year the results have been declared almost a week earlier than in 2017.
