Vadodara: A year ahead of 2019 general elections, the Congress party will begin its ‘Jan Mitra’ programme in the city in coming days to strengthen the contact between the citizen and the party.
President of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), Amit Chavda, who was in city on Saturday, told reporters that the programme will be initiated in the city in coming days to strengthen the party from booth-level itself. “For the past three weeks, we have been receiving a very good response in Ahmedabad. In Vadodara too, one male and a female Jan Mitra will be allocated for each booth,” Chavda said.
“The Jan Mitras will go from door-to-door to meet people and know their problems and expectations. It is evident that education is getting commercialized, the government is not able to regulate school fees, there are traffic and cleanliness issues in the cities,” Chavda added. “The programme is not aimed at elections only. Jan Mitras will also meet people on regular basis,” Chavda said.
Commenting on the three-day chintan shibir of the state government in the city, Chavda said, “Instead of going to the people and knowing their expectations, the government is only talking at the shibir. Crime rate is increasing in the state, but instead of worrying about such things, they want to remain busy with such meetings.”
