Varsity authorities also rolled back their decision to ban shorts in the library. Both girls and boys were barred from wearing shorts in the main library.

Amrit Pal Kaur, Dean Student Welfare (girls) said, “Now there is no restriction on any student in the varsity campus. Girls can wear clothes of their choice in the campus. I have talked to the students and the warden and issue has been resolved”.

Gagandeep Kaur, secretary of Democratic Students Union, said, “I appreciate the move taken by the authorities.”

Jaspreet Kaur, another student of the university said, “Now we can go to the library and the mess in clothes of our choice. We are mature and can decide what we should and should not wear”. “This is a moral victory for all girls and no one can’t put “diktat” on us,” she added.
