Fighting the battles of life with a brave heart and a smile, 15-year-old
Sanjivani Usareti is an inspiration for many out there. Despite suffering from blood cancer, Sanjivani is fired up with strong willpower and wears her heart on her sleeve. A student of Vidya Vihar Convent, Chandrapur, she scored 75.20% in the exams.
A single child to her parents, Sanjivani was detected with leukemia during the second stage in August 2017 after which she had to stop going to school. She is currently undergoing treatment and if things go well, she might get cured fully in two years, say doctors.
She said, “I used to be hospitalized every now and then for chemotherapies and could not attend school. My friends used to come home and teach me. I also watched informational videos on YouTube for better understanding of concepts.”
Sanjivani believes in living in the present and making the most of the moments. She said, “I am aware about my condition and its repercussions. I chose to focus more on how it can be improved rather than sulk about it. If I let the depressing thoughts hover around me, I will start losing all hopes from life.”
With a fearless attitude, Sanjivani doesn’t stop dreaming big. She said, “I wish to become a hematologist because I am curious to learn more about human blood. I’ve met a lot of people with different cancers and it has motivated me to be of help to them.”
Sanjivani’s father Bhushan is a businessman and mother Ajanta a housewife. They said, “We would’ve been happy even if she scored less but she has made us proud with the wonderful result.”
