BENGALURU: A Class V student was found dead in
mysterious circumstances in her hostel room in Sarjapura, Bengaluru Rural district, on Thursday morning.
Police said R Vaishali, a resident of Doddathimmasandra in Madiwala, bore no physical injury on her person and there was no sign of untoward incident in her hostel room.
Vaishali, 13, was a student of the
community school run by an
international school on Attibele Road. She was among 10 students selected by the school management for free education.
Vaishali’s mother R Suguna, a flower vendor in Madiwala, had enrolled her daughter in the school in 2010. “Suguna’s husband Rajendra, a daily wage worker, had deserted her in 2009,” police said. “Finding it difficult to send Vaishali to a private school due to financial issues, Suguna approached officials of the community school and requested them to select Vaishali under their free education quota.”
Police said Vaishali was found dead in her bunker on Thursday morning. “The school management said she was unwell for a few days and was under medication,” police said. “There were blood marks on her lips and chin, indicating she had vomited at some point. We are awaiting the autopsy report.”
