Thunderstorm, gusty winds likely in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema

South West Monsoon has become active in coastal Andhra Pradesh and normal in Rayalaseema.

VISAKHAPATNAM:   South West Monsoon has become active in coastal Andhra Pradesh and normal in Rayalaseema. The cyclonic circulation over northern parts of central Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Bay of Bengal now lies over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal and extends. Under its influence, a low pressure area is very likely to develop over north Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours. It is likely to concentrate into a depression during the subsequent 48 hours and move towards West Bengal­ - Bangladesh  coasts.

In the last 24 hours, heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in the districts of Krishna, Guntur and Vizianagaram of coastal Andhra Pradesh. Masulipatnam in Krishna district recorded 11 cm rain, Mangalagiri in Guntur district recorded 8 cm rain, Nellimarla in Vizianagaram district recorded 7 cm rain, Tanuku in West Godavari district and Kurnool in Kurnool district recorded 6 cm rain, while Prakasam Barrage and Avanigada in Krishna district and Macherla in Guntur district recorded 5 cm rain. 

IMD officials said that thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds are very likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema in the next 24 hours. 
Meanwhile, the maximum temperatures remained below normal at many places in coastal AP.
