MUMBAI: A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) based Lokanche Dost in Vikhroli has urged the state election commission secretary Shekhar Channe to scrap EVMs and bring a policy to implement the traditional ballot paper in the upcoming elections.
Members of the NGO have alleged voters are losing faith in the EVM machines given the recent news of technical faults found in recent elections. Channe assured to look into their request while accepting their memorandum. He further stated that they should speak to the concerned officials with the central government if want this demand implemented at the state level.
Ravi Bhilane, leader of the association along with senior social worker Firoz Mithiborwala, Sanjivni Nangare, MA Khalid, Daivashali Giri, Pratiksha Manure and Mangesh Salve were also present at the meeting.
