Mulund suicide pact: duo lived in car for 4 days

A young couple found dead in a car in Mulund on Wednesday had been living in the vehicle for four days, police said on Thursday.

The couple, Salman Khan (26) and Manisha Neyni (21), is suspected of having consumed poison as their families were opposed to their marriage. On searching the car belonging to Khan parked in a lane near the Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Mulund, the police found two large bags full of clothes.

Akhilesh Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone VII), said, “Material recovered from the car indicates that Khan and Neyni were living in it since they were reported missing. We have found out that the clothes were from a garment store owned by the Khan family.”

The police have sent two unlabelled bottles found in the car to the Forensic Sciences Laboratory in Kalina and are awaiting the report. Police Inspector Chetan Bagul said, “The two met and entered into a relationship while studying together in a commerce college in Bhandup.”

Several relatives of the Khan family gathered at their residence in Islampura on Thursday. on learning about his death. Zeeshan, Khan’s brother, said, “We found out that Salman was no longer with us through the news. A video taken when the bodies were found has already gone viral on social media, adding to our pain.There is nothing more to be said now that Salman is gone.”
