The State Human Rights Commission has asked the government to keep its promise made to an ailing child in 2013 that assistance would be extended to her. The child had been promised by the then Chief Minister ₹1 lakh for treatment, three cents of land, and ₹3 lakh for constructing a house. The child and her mother had been promised a pension. Apart from the amount for treatment, other assistance has not materialised yet.

The child is the daughter of Anitha, a native of Mannarkkad in Palakkad. She has a condition wherein she feels extreme body ache when the weather is very hot or cold.

SHRC acting chairperson P. Mohanadas, who visited the child at her home, said the family’s condition was pitiable. The Chief Secretary has been asked to submit a report to the commission in three weeks.
