COSHOCTON A fire that claimed the life of a boy on Thursday remains under investigation by officials with the Coshocton Fire Department.

COSHOCTON A fire that claimed the life of a boy on Thursday remains under investigation by officials with the Coshocton Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to a house fire at 419 S. 10th St. at 6:26 p.m., according to Fire Chief Michael L. Layton. Upon arrival, fire was visible from the second floor of the residence.

People on the scene reported that someone was still inside the house. Firefighters conducted a search of the residence and rescued a juvenile from the second floor, Layton said. The juvenile was transported to the Coshocton County Regional Medical Center by Coshocton County EMS, where he later died from his injuries.

A Coshocton firefighter received a leg injury and was treated and released from the emergency department.

The Ohio State Fire Marshal and Explosion Investigation Bureau was contacted to aid in the investigation into the cause of the fire.

Assisting at the scene were the Coshocton County Sheriff's Office, Coshocton County EMS, the Coshocton Salvation Army and the American Red Cross. FCV (Conesville) Volunteer Fire Department assisted Coshocton by standing by at the station while crews were tied up at the fire scene.
