The upcoming BlackBerry Key 2 doesn’t care about funky camera filters, state-of-the-art camera lenses, and monster performance. Just like its predecessor, it places a heavy bet on security, productivity, and a beloved physical keyboard.
Back in 2009, having a BlackBerry was a thing as the brand was quite mighty at the time. Over the years, the brand lost its appeal, but after TCL bought the company, BlackBerry was infused with fresh life.
However, TCL still refused to push the handset into the mainstream and get rid of the phone’s iconic physical keyboard. The latest BlackBerry phone is not for Instagram junkies or PUBG addicts.
Key2 is copying the success of its predecessor with a fresh look, sharp angular lines, and slimmer figure than the KeyOne. It has a dual camera and a plastic back with the company’s logo.
Key2 Comes with Higher Typing Accuracy
The keyboard’s space bar acts like a fingerprint scanner just like in the previous model. There is also a Speed Key that enables users to generate custom functions and shortcuts to their favorite apps. Users can also create macros to call a specific contact or switch on and off the DND mode.
The keyboard keys are slightly taller than the Key1’s which could boost typing accuracy. They also have a finish that is less slippery for the same reason.
The Key2 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and has 64GB to 128 GB of internal storage and 6GB of RAM. It is also equipped with a microSD slot and runs on the latest version of Android.
The handset sports a Secure Folder that is protected by a passcode or fingerprint. Users can store sensitive files in the folder. Also, the DTEK app makes it easier for the average user to understand app permissions and app data collection if any.
The Key2 will be released by the end of the month for $650.
