Two first-time women councillors to head Bharuch, Ankleshwar municipalities

Bharuch/Surat: The BJP on Friday elected two first-time women councillors as presidents of Bharuch and Ankleshwar municipalities. Both the seats were reserved for women from general category.
Though there were several aspirants for the posts, the party gave mandate to Daxaben Shah as a president of Ankleshwar municipality. Considered to be having a clean image, Shah is an arts graduate and fist-time councillor.

Meanwhile, Surabhi Tamakuwala was elected as president of Bharuch municipality. She runs private tuition classes. She is also a first-time councillor.

Many senior women party workers, who were also in a race, were sidelined by the party. Both candidates were declared elected during the general board meeting of respective municipalities held on Friday.
