Ed Walker’s yard have hit a bit of form in recent weeks with five winners from their last 27 runners and Sky Eagle looks like a worthy 15/8 favourite at Goodwood this evening. The colt got better with every start last season and there’s been plenty to like about his two runs this campaign. A winner at Wolverhampton on return, the four-year-old finished an eye-catching third in what is likely to prove to be a hot handicap at York when last seen and while he’s been given an extra 3lb to carry from the handicapper, there could be more to come up in trip here.

Amthaal – Curragh 6.35

Over in Ireland, there’s reason to believe Amthaal will leave the bare form of her two runs behind her and outrun her odds of 14/1. The filly ran with credit on debut and while she disappointed last time, the drop in trip on fast ground could see her to better effect given that her dam’s sister is the dam of five-furlong Meydan speedster Ertijaal. Her Australian/US pedigree suggests she will improve for a quicker surface and the four-year-old has probably been forgotten about to some extent in the market after her poor run last time.
