Stock market update: BSE Midcap trade with small gains; Ajanta Pharma, Wockhardt among the top gainers

NEW DELHI: The BSE Midcap index was trading with small gains during the first half of Friday's session.
Around 10:50 am, the midcap index was trading 0.22 per cent up at 15,990.
However, it was still outperforming benchmark Sensex.
The BSE Sensex was 0.27 per cent down at 35,367, while Nifty50 was 0.29 per cent down at 10,737 around that time.
Shares of Ajanta Pharma (up 5.93 per cent), Vakrangee (up 4.99 per cent) and Wockhardt (up 3.80 per cent) were the top gainers in the midcap index.
On the other hand, Torrent Power (down 2.83 per cent), Bharat Electronics (down 1.97 per cent), NLC India (down 1.89 per cent), Berger Paints (India) (down 1.85 per cent) and GMR Infrastructure (down 1.78 per cent) were among the top losers in the index around the same time.
Domestic markets were subdued in the light of weak global cues.
Most sectors on BSE were suffering losses, led by power, utilities, finance and bank.
In the Sensex index, 10 stocks were advancing, while 21 were declining.
Sun Pharma, Dr Reddy's Labs and Tata Motors were leading the pack of Sensex gainers.
