Arsenal transfer news: Tottenham join Gunners in watching Marseille’s Morgan Sanson

ARSENAL and Tottenham are both keeping an eye on Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson in this summer’s transfer window, according to reports.

Sanson is believed to be seeking a club that can offer Champions League football having lost out in the Europa League final this time around to Atletico Madrid.

That would give Spurs the edge with Mauricio Pochettino’s men qualifying for next season’s competition.

Arsenal ended the Premier League season in sixth though have appointed Unai Emery as manager following Arsene Wenger’s departure.

And Sanson’s agent Michael Manuello has admitted both clubs are interested in his man but is unsure of Emery’s summer transfer plans.

"Tottenham really follows Morgan,” Maneullo told Foot Mercato. “Really.

“Arsenal follows him too. Now, I do not know what Unai Emery will want.

“Sevilla appreciates him a lot. That is true. But I think they will not have the financial means."

Sanson was mainly used in attacking midfield last season and bagged ten goals for Marseille.

They finished fourth in Ligue 1 while reaching the Europa League final.

Chelsea were also rumoured to be interested in the 23-year old by Manuello has indicated the Blues will not sign the Frenchman.

He added: “Chelsea will not go any further, they are looking at other things.”
