Battered by reported differences among the senior leaders and divisions at district level, the Congress party is concentrating on sending a clear signal to the party cadre that they are all united and will face the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) confidently.
The meeting of seven senior leaders at the residence of TPCC working president Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday was an attempt in that direction where TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Leader of Opposition in Assembly K. Jana Reddy, LoP in Council Shabbir Ali and three AICC secretaries Madhu Yashki Goud V. Hanumantha Rao and G. Chinna Reddy discussed for over two hours. The meeting apparently was on the direction from the AICC leadership and it discussed some crucial issues where the TRS can be targeted and exposed. This likely to be followed by some meetings where other seniors leaders will also be invited for eliciting their views.
Mr. Vikramarka said key issues like rising petrol prices were also discussed apart from the failures of the TRS government and what programmes need to be chalked out to expose them. Mr. Madhu Yashki Goud agreed that meeting will send a strong signal to the cadre and also to the government that party was gearing up and leaders were united.
Apparently, the leaders expressed their views openly on the new entrants and how the existing leaders in those particular constituencies were reacting and the need to pacify them in the interests of the party. A senior leader revealed that the AICC leadership sees Telangana as a potential state where Congress can emerge victorious but it sees differences between leaders as a hurdle in that effort.
