The suspended sub-inspector of Hiriyadka police station, D.N. Kumar, and police vehicle driver, Gopal, who are among the accused in cattle trader Hussainabba’s death case, moved a bail plea at the District and Sessions Court here on Thursday. After enquiring into the matter, the court called for objection by prosecution on June 11.
Hussainabba, a cattle trader was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Shenarbettu near Perdoor in Udupi district on May 30.
His brother, Mohammed Ismail registered a police complaint on the same day stating that the multi-utility vehicle (MUV) in which Hussainbba was transporting 13 cattleheads was waylaid by activists of Bajrang Dal.
Hussainabba was assaulted by the activists at Shenarbettu and later died in the presence of the police, Mr. Ismail alleged in his complaint.
In the course of the investigation in the case, the police arrested 11 persons including three policepersons, seven activists of Bajrang Dal and one person, Jaya, who was in the MUV with Hussainabba. The three cops included Mr. Kumar, Mr. Gopal, and the police constable, Mohan Kotwal.
