The US Army has awarded over $51 million worth contract to Oshkosh Defense for the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicle variants based on the current A1P2 technical data package, the Department of defense announced Thursday.
The statement further said that the A1P2 technical data package also “includes the long term armored strategy design on the vehicles.”
Work will be performed in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, with an estimated completion date of August 25, 2019.
The FMTV is a series of vehicles, based on a common chassis, that vary by payload and mission requirements. The FMTV is derived from the Austrian military Steyr 12 M 18 truck, but substantially modified to meet U.S. Army requirements.
The FMTV has a Caterpillar (CAT) C7, 7.2-liter, 6-cylinder inline water-cooled diesel developing 330 hp engine. The FMTV have a Parabolic tapered leaf springs (inverted on rear bogies), telescopic shock-absorbers and an anti-roll bar on rear bogie suspensions.
