NEW DELHI: Most IT stocks were trading with gains during Frida's session amid a fresh fall in Indian rupee against the US dollar.

The Nifty IT index was trading 0.43 per cent up at 13,743 around 12:15 pm with Tata Elxsi (up 1.78 per cent) and KPIT Technologies (up 1.72 per cent) as top gainers.

Shares of Mindtree (up 1.41 per cent), Tech Mahindra (up 1.03 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services (up 0.48 per cent), HCL Technologies (up 0.30 per cent) and Infosys (up 0.28 per cent) were also trading up.

However, Oracle Financial Services Software (down 1.09 per cent) and Infibeam Incorporation (down 0.49 per cent) were down around that time.

Shares of Wipro (down 0.04 per cent) were trading almost flat.

Equity markets were under pressure on heavy selling in power, realty, oil & gas and banking stocks amid sustained capital outflows by foreign funds.

A deprecating rupee against the dollar and surging crude oil prices also dampened the sentiment.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 52 points at 10,716, while the BSE Sensex was 170 points down at 35,293.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 were trading in the green, while 34 were in the red.
