Rajkot: Unruly scenes were witnessed at the central zone office of Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) and 17 Congress members were arrested for trying to barge into the chamber of the RMC commissioner on Friday.
The Congress members and municipal councillors were agitating against hoardings allegedly put up illegally by two cellphone companies in various parts of the city.
Leader of the opposition in the RMC, Vashram Sagathia, alleged that the companies illegally put up as many as 275 hoardings across the city, causing a loss of Rs 8-Rs 9 crore to the RMC.
