JAIPUR:
Rajasthan Congress committee spokesperson and
Jaipur district head Pratap Singh Khachariyawas and other Congress party members took note of the smart city project work going on in between Ajmeri gate and Kishanpole market on Friday.
When Khachariyawas reached Ajmeri gate, Kishanpole businessmen and public welcomed him and told him about their grievances. The businessmen said that because of the smart city work their livelihood is affected and there is not even a place for ambulance to pass as the roads are narrowed down. “Earlier, for metro work, 51 shops were closed down and now even for drainage line for smart city project our business is affected. The government has the support of just few businessmen but they have sidelined the 90% of us who are against this,” said the businessmen present.
Khachariyawas gave assurance to the businessmen that their pleas will be taken to the government and said that corruption on heavy scale is going on in the name of smart city project. “Rs 2600 crore was sanctioned for the smart city and just Rs 150 crore is spent and Rs 550 crore work is under progress. There was no sense to lay down the drainage line in the middle of the road. This shows that the government and officers are in connivance and earning profit,” said Khachariyawas.
To complaint against the corruption alleged by the Congress party they will meet the Lokayukt on Monday and when the Congress party will come into power the corruption done in the smart city project will be looked into and action will be taken against the officers concern.
