A 21-year-old Kenyan woman was allegedly abducted on the pretext of giving a lift in the early hours of Thursday and gang-raped by five men in Ghata village on Golf Course Extension Road here, the police said.
Stating that a case of gang rape has been registered at Sector 56 police station, they said three of the accused have been arrested and the vehicle used by them has been seized.
Accused identified
The three accused have been identified as Praveen alias Tara (24), Mohit (23) and Sunder (30).
While Praveen supplies construction material, Mohit and Sunder run water tanker business.
While Mohit belongs to Behrampur village, the remaining two are from Ghata village.
Returning from party
In her complaint to the police, the woman said the incident happened while she was returning from a party on Mehrauli-Gurugram Road.
The woman was waiting for a cab to Chhatarpur in Delhi near Bristol Chowk when three men in an SUV allegedly offered her a lift.
“The three men offered me a lift. They began to harass me as soon as I boarded the vehicle. The trio then took me to their place, where two men were already present and having drinks. The five then took turns to rape me,” said the woman in her complaint to the police.
Managed to escape
She, however, managed to escape on the pretext of going to the washroom and came across a PCR van in Sector 56 police station area.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Sadar) Inderjit Singh said the woman knew little English and had difficulty in communicating with the police. “She managed to convey that she had been raped but could not give other details. She then called people who knew her language and gave the details,” said Mr. Singh.
The police officer said the three men had taken the woman to their makeshift office in a jhuggi-jhonpri cluster in Ghata village and raped her.
CCTV footage procured
“We procured the CCTV footage from the place where she was abducted. She also took the police to the place where the assault took place,” said Mr. Singh.
The Gurugram Police spokesperson said efforts are on to arrest the remaining two accused, who are on the run.
The medical examination of the woman confirmed rape. Her statement has been recorded before a Magistrate.
