57,000 CCTV sets for constable selection test

ALLAHABAD: As many as 57,000 CCTV sets have been installed at 860 examination centres across the state where over 22.5 lakh candidates would appear in the direct police constable recruitment exam to be conducted by UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board on June 18 and 19.
The highest number of CCTV sets have been installed in Varanasi followed by Agra, Meerut, Allahabad and Kanpur zones. Officials said monkeys had damaged wiring of some CCTV sets in Fatehpur which was later rectified. SP (Protocol) Purnendu Singh said, "The work of installation of CCTV sets for direct police constable recruitment exam has been completed. Besides entry and exit points, CCTV sets have also been installed in exam halls to monitor the activities of at least 24 candidates to be seated in a single hall." In Allahabad zone comprising Allahabad, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Mahoba and Banda districts, a total of 2.38 lakh candidates would take the exam.

In Allahabad city, a total of 1,582 CCTV sets have been installed at exam halls. Candidates would not be allowed to carry mobiles or other electronic gadgets. Invigilators will also collect biometric data of the candidates.

A high-level meeting for conducting the exam smoothly was held in the state capital on Wednesday for nodal officers from the districts.
