NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education cancelled the affiliation of Mother Khazani Convent School on Friday. On April 1, Delhi Police had arrested two teachers of this private school in Alipur in northwest Delhi along with the economics tutor of a private coaching centre for their involvement in the leak of the Class XII economics exam paper.

The cancellation notice is yet to be uploaded on the CBSE website, but a senior official confirmed the step. “Yes, the board has cancelled the affiliation of the school, two of whose teachers have been arrested for leaking the economics paper,” the official said.

The two teachers — Rishabh Antil and Rohit Vats — had opened the economics question paper two hours before the exam on March 26, photographed it and sent it to Touquir, a tutor at a local coaching centre, who forwarded it to his students. The location code in the corner of the leaked paper, the images of which was circulated on WhatsApp, helped police identify the school to which the paper had been sent.

“Negligence on the part of the school led to the incident, and the action taken is as defined in the affiliation bylaws of CBSE,” the official explained.
