Nagpur: Devotional songs were presented at a programme titled ‘Jogwa’, organized by Swar Sadhana, on the occasion of ‘Adhik Maas’ at Durga Mata Mandir, Pratap Nagar, on Friday.
The event started with Shyam Deshpande presenting ‘Amba mauli’. Songs based in praise of Kolhapur’s Laxmi and Tuljapur Bhavani were presented beautifully.

The second devotional song beautifully depicted how Goddess Bhavani of Tuljapur had to be calmed down after Navratri when she killed demon Mahishasur.

Rasika Kulkarni presented a song on Goddess Mahalaxmi of Kolhapur along with Kanchan Gadkari, Ashwini Lule and Padmaja Sinha.

Smita Khangai, who anchored the programme, said ‘Adhik Maas’ is a period of purifying soul by engaging oneself into worshipping deities, taking a dip in holy rivers and holding religious programmes.

Prakash Shukla, organizer and a member of Vishvasta Mandal, said, “We all worship God at our home. But when a large gathering of people worships together, it produces positive energy all around and gives peace of mind.”

‘Adhik Maas’ is celebrated on a massive scale at ‘Sade teen peethas’ of Adi Shaktis in Maharashtra.

Swar Sadhana has been staging programmes of devotional songs at various temple as part of ‘Adhik Maas’.
