Haryana to celebrate birth annivs of Valmiki, Ravidas, Kabir, Ambedkar

PThe Manohar Lal Khattar Government in Haryana has decided to celebrate the birth anniversaries of Maharishi Valmiki, Sant Shiromani Ravidas, Sant Kabir and Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar in the State.

“Kabir Jayanti will be celebrated from June 25 to July 1 at district level,” said Haryana Minister of State for Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Krishan Kumar Bedi while talking to the mediapersons here.

Briefing the mediapersons about the issues discussed at a meeting of ministers chaired by the Chief Minister Manohar Lal, Bedi said that the procurement of sunflower would begin on June 15 for which all preparations had been done.

The Central Government has allowed procurement of 40 per cent of sunflower produced in the state. According to estimates, 60,000 metric tonnes of sunflower is likely to be produced in Haryana, said he.

The Minister said that discussions were held at the meeting to reach maximum number of people through ‘Sampark se Samadhaan’ programme initiated on the completion of four years of the BJP Government at the Centre. Ministers, MPs and MLAs would take this programme to the booth level. The programme which began on May 26 would continue till June 11, said he.

In reply to a question regarding continuous protests by the employees against the State Government, Bedi said that the government is working for the welfare of employees.

The benefit of recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission has been given from Jan 1, 2016 to the employees in government departments, boards and corporations. Under the Congress government, the benefit of recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission took years to reach the people, said the Minister.

He further said that the issues of safai karamcharis of municipal corporations had been resolved. The State Government has also decided to give weekly off to police officials and daily wages of Home Guards had been increased from Rs 300 to Rs 572 equivalent to police officials, he added.
