When the news came down that Julian Edelman was facing a four-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs, some people looked at his trainer at the TB12 Center.  In fact on Thursday evening Boston Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy wrote a story titled, “Julian Edelman case gives Bill Belichick more ammunition against Alex Guerrero.”

Edelman has been rehabbing with Guerrero to get through his ACL injury, which he suffered last summer. The wide receiver has long rehabbed with Tom Brady’s personal trainer, but hasn’t completely gone 100 percent into the TB12 Method, which includes a special diet and no weight lifting.

With Guerrero’s name out in the news alongside Edelman’s, the trainer responded on Thursday, issuing a statement to the Providence Journal:

“I’ve known Julian since his rookie year and he is a phenomenal athlete who takes his training seriously—it’s disappointing to hear today’s news. Elite athletes sometimes work with multiple coaches and health professionals as part of their off-season training.

“Here at our facility, we take a natural, holistic, appropriate and, above all, legal approach to training and recovery for all of our clients.  And anyone who would suggest otherwise is irresponsible, and just plain wrong.”
