We want to turn to Kim Kardashian opening up about the best news ever. President trump commuting the life sentence for Alice Johnson, that great grandmother who was behind bars for decades and now she's revealing the role that ivanka played and ABC's Adrienne Bankert is here with the story. Adrienne, good morning. Good morning. Kim Kardashian west says she put politics aside and worked tirelessly sending emails a dozen times a day for seven months straight to work on getting the crucial meeting at the white house. She tearfully describes the moment she told Alice Johnson she was going home. Overnight, an emotional Kim Kardashian west sharing the earth-shaking moment she told 63-year-old Alice Johnson she was getting her life back. We cried maybe on the phone for like three minutes straight like everyone was just crying and then -- I have to get it together. Reporter: In an interview with CNN she shared just how much went into making that moment a reality. I have been daily phone calls with the white house, maybe a dozen emails a day trying to get letters, letter from the warden, I mean, I have to give credit to where Alice's whole team has been working on this for years. Reporter: The crucial role Ivanka Trump played in setting up that oval office meeting. How it all happened was I reached out to ivanka and I said I know that you have compassion for women like this and I explained to her her story and she immediately got it and she immediately felt it. Reporter: She says 1450ed her doubts about convincing the president. Trump is the last person I thought that would have done this but he did and he pulled through. Reporter: And on "Gma" Alice Johnson praised the president and Kardashian west for seeing this through. She told me she knew that this was meant to be. This moment right now is happening because president trump had mercy on me and I'd like to tell him that, please, please remember us, the others who have been left behind. Reporter: An issue to which Kardashian west says she'll remain committed. There's over 3,000 people in this same exact situation as Alice. But it doesn't mean that we're going to stop here. Reporter: You know, Kim also credits Jared Kushner for helping in making that oval office meeting happened and says she doesn't get starstruck but was overcome with so much emotion walking into the oval office that she was struck there with so much history knowing she herself would be a part of changing a life. Back to you. It's hard not to watch that reunion with her family and not get emotional. Exactly. It's a second chance for her. I had a chance to talk to her yesterday and she said, I paid -- I feel like I paid my debt to society and I plan on using my freedom for good to help other people right now so that's a good thing to look at. So good to hear. All right. And, Adrienne, thank you for that.
