Two people have been critically injured and another two seriously injured when a car rolled down a bank near Taihape.
Three people have been airlifted to Whanganui Hospital after a vehicle went down a steep bank near Taihape, Rangitīkei.
A police spokeswoman said they were called out to a vehicle that went off the road and down a bank on Spooners Hill Rd about 3.50pm on Friday.
A ropes team – police abseilers – were used to reach the car.
A St John Ambulance spokesman said three people were airlifted to Whanganui Hospital, one with serious injuries and two with moderate injuries.
The three helicopters that attended the crash were airborne by 5.50pm, the spokesman said.
The police serious crash unit had been advised.
