13 Reasons Why season 3: Will Monty face justice in the new season?
13 REASONS WHY season 3 has been officially renewed by Netflix following a shocking and devastating second run. But what will happen in season 3 and will Monty face justice?
WARNING: This article contains spoilers for 13 Reasons Why season 2 and references to sexual assault
The second season of 13 Reasons Why delivered one of the most devastating and disturbing scenes which led to there being widespread calls for the series’ cancellation.
However, Netflix has renewed the teen drama, claiming that not everyone has to watch it.
The scene in question features the violent rape of a character in a locker room.
Mercilessly bullied, Tyler Down (played by Devin Druid) is beaten and raped with a mop handle by fellow student Monty de la Cruz (Timothy Granaderos).
The graphic scene is difficult to watch but has been defended by cast members who say that it is raising the difficult issue of male rape.
Season one saw both Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford) and Jessica Davis (Alisha Boe) both raped in separate incidents by Bryce Walker (Justin Prentice).
This season saw Jessica report the rape and the wealthy and privileged Bryce was sentenced to just three months probation.
But will Tyler report Monty in series three?

Will Monty face justice in 13 Reasons Why season 3?
It is difficult to predict what direction the plot will go in in season three.
Plot details will be kept secret until much later to the release date, which is likely to be some time around May/June 2019.
With such a difficult issue, season three may focus on how Tyler copes following the ordeal.
There is a huge stigma associated with reporting rapes so perhaps Tyler will struggle with telling anyone.
Netflix
Perhaps he will report it and there will be another court case like in season two.
Regardless of what way the new series pans out, writers will more than likely explore the aftermath of such a horrific experience.
Devin Druid himself defended the scene.
Speaking to BuildSeries he said: “You’re suddenly given this responsibility to portray a horrific thing that unfortunately happens to many people around the world, a lot of them even younger than Tyler.
Netflix
“It’s a heartbreaking thing to think about, and with [Tyler’s assault scene]/
“I felt tasked with this need to represent what victims go through, to hopefully show that they’re understood and heard, and for people who don’t know what these issues are or don’t have the empathy to understand, to show them what it’s like.”
