Within days of a fighter crash killing one of air force’s senior most active pilots, yet another Jaguar plane met with an accident on Friday morning.

According to air force officers, a Jaguar aircraft on a routine training mission from Jamnagar developed snag as it was in the landing phase. The pilot ejected safely, but may have sustained some injuries, sources said.

The mishap occurred around 9.20 a.m. A court of inquiry has been ordered, they said.

According to sketchy details, the fighter plane may have suffered some damages but could be repaired.

Today’s accident comes just days after Air Commodore Sanjai Chauhan, Air Officer Commanding, Jamnagar Air Force station, was killed when his Jaguar fighter crashed.

Mr. Chauhan’s fighter crashed at 9.45 a.m. over Kutch area of Gujarat.

Mr. Chauhan was an experimental test pilot who had flown at least 17 different types of aircraft in the IAF inventory, of that over 2000 hours on Jaguar aircraft alone. He also flew fighter jets such as Rafale, Gripen and Euro Fighter as the leader of evaluation team for the Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft tender.
