The world No 1 re-emerged yesterday fresher and fitter and he lost just four games in the last two sets, prevailing 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.
Nadal is bidding to win the French Open for an 11th time, but how is the weather shaping up?
As things stand, conditions are expected to be pleasant in Paris with temperatures to hit a high of 26 C on Friday.
A five per cent chance of rain has been predicted which means play should be uninterrupted.
