Amid protests by pro-Kannada activists, superstar Rajinikanth-starrer 'Kaala' was released in some multiplexes in the city today but stalled in most parts of

Demonstrations were held in front of theatres in the city where the was to be screened.

Protesters were seen requesting the 67-year-old actor's fans not to watch the movie for the sake of their Kannada brethren fighting for Cauvery water.

The protesters also asked them to come together to express solidarity with the farmers who have been deprived of water.

However, later in the afternoon, some multiplexes in the city screened the movie.
