President Ram Nath Kovind has said that without peace no region can be developed. Speaking at a civic reception organised by Tripura government at Agartala this evening, the President said, Centre is making sincere efforts to develop the state as well as the entire northeastern region. He also declared ‘Queen’ variety of pineapple as state food in the function.

The President also appreciated the youth of the state and said the youth of Tripura are having enthusiasm and energy. Citing names of famous sportspersons of the state, the President appreciated them and said these sportspersons are not only pride of the state but of the country also.

Mr Kovind said that the history of Tripura, its tradition and culture are very glorious. Talking about women empowerment, the President said, Tripura is ahead in empowering women. He said that tourism, trade, handicrafts, tribal development, employment can see great change through infrastructure development. President Kovind further added that Tripura can play an important role in boosting the trade between ASEAN countries.
