Man Utd transfer news: Jose Mourinho makes big Luke Shaw decision with Alex Sandro linked
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly shelved plans to sign Alex Sandro, and is willing to hand Luke Shaw an Old Trafford lifeline.
Manchester United boss Mourinho has been eyeing Sandro for months amid uncertainty over Shaw’s future.
The England international fell down the pecking order last term and, with just a year left on his deal, talk has been rife of a move away.
Express Sport understands Manchester United have been tracking Juventus star Sandro over the past few months.
But the Independent say the Red Devils will no longer be pursuing the Brazil international.
And that is because Mourinho is willing to give Shaw a chance to prove himself.

United have struggled at left-back ever since Patrice Evra quit the club back in 2014.
Shaw was signed as his replacement but injuries and inconsistencies have stunted his development.
Despite that, though, a United stay now looks in the offing.
The Independent say Mourinho is ready to stick with Shaw and Ashley Young next term.
Young is currently above Shaw in the battle to start, having broken into the side last year.

He could even start there for England during their World Cup campaign in Russia this summer.
Speaking in March, meanwhile, Young expressed a belief Shaw would save his United career.
"He's a fantastic player," Young said.
"I want to see Luke do well. He just has to get his head down and work.
"I feel he can be one of the best in the world, like I say he has just got to work hard."
