One escaped prisoner recaptured in Mackay, other remains on the run
One of two prisoners who allegedly escaped from a low-security central Queensland prison has been recaptured.
Nelson Jack Kepa, 21, was taken into custody in North Mackay about 2:20pm on Thursday after allegedly escaping on Sunday.
Levi James Brown, 25, remains on the run and has been described as having a light complexion, about 175cm tall with brown eyes, black hair and the word 'Brown' tattooed on his neck.
The pair were both inmates at the Capricornia Correctional Centre and were out on community service when they were reported missing from Rockhampton Showgrounds about 1pm.
Detective Inspector Brendan Smith said on Wednesday police believed the escapees were in the Mackay district on Tuesday and overnight.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Mr Brown has been urged not to approach him and call police immediately.
