Sugar climbs on rising demand

Both varieties of climbed at the Vashi wholesale here today following rise in demand from stockists and bulk consumers amid restricted from millers.

Small (S-30) advanced by Rs 90/110 per quintal to Rs 2,982/3,052 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 2,892/2,942.

Medium (M-30) also gained by Rs 88/98 per quintal to Rs 3,030/3,220 as against Rs 2,942/3,122.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,982/3,052 (Rs 2,892/2,942).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,030/3,220 (Rs 2,942/3,122).
