Mumbai: 21-year-old final year student arrested for pushing man in front of running train

On Wednesday, the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested twenty-one-year-old final year Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) student, who was one of those accused of pushing 56-year-old Deepak Patwa in front of running train at Mulund station.

According to Mumbai Mirror, the twenty-one-year-old was identified as Akshay Mange. The Special Task Force (STF) of GRP arrested Mange from his house in Wagle Estate, Thane. He was traced on the basis of the location of his mobile phone. On the day of the incident, Mange was on his way to collect his mark sheet from his college in Vidyavihar. After the accused reached Mulund station and was waiting for the train to arrive, he saw Patwa and Manisha Khakadiya (second accused in the case) locked into a heated argument.

Mange then rushed to help Manisha Khakadiya but instead got into the scuffle with Deepak Patwa, during which he allegedly pushed Patwa on to the tracks. After the incident, Mange left the station hurriedly and called one of his friend, through which cops were able to track him. Later, after the incident, Mange went home and narrated the entire incident to his parents, but instead of handing him over to the police they asked him to stay at home. The second accused Manisha Khakadiya, a resident of Chembur, was already arrested by the police earlier.
